Heartland Marketing Group’s name incorporates our location and focus. We live and work in the heartland where production agriculture features prominently in daily lives all around us. The symbol in our name – the heart – reflects our care for our work and who we work for. In February, with Valentine’s Day fast approaching, we want to claim and share this legacy.
The team at HMG strives to build relationships with our clients so the marketing communications work we do is unique, personal, creative, and effective. We don’t have templates or standardized anything. By getting to know our customers, we can be responsive and meet both specific needs and expectations.
As the company with a heart, we always endeavor to do more, do better, and fill gaps. Our skillset continues to grow as we meet needs and respond to always changing communications norms.
So on Valentine’s Day, and always, we want to say thank you to all of our clients, vendors, and friends. Our mission of telling our customers’ stories continues with gratitude for each of you.
In the recently released 2023 Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll, respondents were asked what they preferred to be called. The term farmer was chosen by 75%. Coming in a distant second, at 10%, was farm operator. Other options with even lower preference were producer, grower, and rancher.
J. Arbuckle, rural sociologist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, served as lead author for the Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll. Responses came from 972 farmers. Nearly all of those who participated plant corn or soybeans and nearly half raise livestock.
In our business, we want to know and understand who we are communicating for, to, and about. The results of this question on the Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll confirm our messaging strategy!
